awe-101 Your first AWE App

Introduction

This guide will show you step by step with the help of a video how to generate you first AWE web application. For this, we will use the archetype awe-boot-archetype.

What we need for this tutorial?

The requirements for this example are:

  • Five spare minutes 😁
  • Your favorite IDE or text processor
  • JDK 1.8 or above
  • Maven 3.0+
  • Archetype catalog

Archetype catalog

In order to be able to use AWE's archetype you will need to add the next remote Maven Central archetype catalog:

https://repo.maven.apache.org/maven2/archetype-catalog.xml

Application generation

With maven

You can create your first application running the following command in a terminal window using maven archetype awe-boot-archetype with version Version

./mvn -B archetype:generate \
-DarchetypeGroupId=com.almis.awe \
-DarchetypeArtifactId=awe-boot-archetype \
-DarchetypeVersion=[Archetype version]
-DgroupId=com.example.app \
-DartifactId=my-app \
-Dversion=1.0-SNAPSHOT

Then, run your application with (in project directory):

./mvn spring-boot:run

With your favourite IDE

Below this line, you can find a video explaining how to generate our first web application using AWE and IntelliJ IDE.
